Rana Sanga beat the second Lodi army sent against him, and Mewar’s power reached the edge of the Agra country.
01After Khatoli
Rana Sanga had been pushing his frontier north-east into the lands Delhi claimed, and at Khatoli in 1517–18 he had beaten Ibrahim Lodi himself. The sultan could not let that stand. He raised a fresh army and sent it under his nobles towards Mewar. The Rana came out to meet it with the Rajput chiefs who followed his banner, and the two forces met in the ravine country near Dholpur and Bari.
02Mewar at its height
The Rajput charge carried the field and the Lodi army fell back towards Agra. The Rajasthani chronicles and the later historians of Mewar count this among Sanga’s great victories. Chanderi and much of Malwa’s north came under his influence, and he gave Chanderi to Medini Rai. When Babur entered India in 1526, Rana Sanga was the strongest Hindu ruler of the north, and the Lodi state he had twice beaten fell at Panipat.

Dholpur confirmed Rana Sanga as the leading power of Rajasthan and Malwa on the eve of Babur’s invasion.
