What it says
The court held that the ASI excavation showed the mosque was not built on vacant land and that the structure beneath was not Islamic, while the report did not find whether a temple had been demolished for it. Hindu faith that Shri Ram was born there was undisputed, and Hindus had worshipped in the outer courtyard without break; the Muslim parties had not shown exclusive possession before 1857. Placing the idols in 1949 and the demolition of 1992 were unlawful. Ram Lalla Virajman was a juristic person; Nirmohi Akhara’s suit was time-barred.
It closed a dispute running since 1885 and led to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra trust (2020) and the consecration of the temple on 22 January 2024.
