Copper plates of Kumara Bhaskaravarman of Kamarupa, Harsha’s ally, renewing a land grant whose original plates had been burnt.

What it says

The grant, first made by his ancestor Bhutivarman to a large body of Vedic Brahmanas, is renewed. The genealogy traces the Kamarupa kings to Naraka, Bhagadatta and Vajradatta, the line the Mahabharata names as rulers of Pragjyotisha.

What it proves

It shows the Kamarupa kingdom of Assam settling Vedic learning in the far east of Bharat and claiming descent from the Itihasa’s kings of Pragjyotisha.
