01Two Lords in the palm forest

Panai is the palmyra and tala its Sanskrit name; the palm is the sthala tree and the place was once a palm forest. The temple has two presiding lingas: Talapureeswarar, consecrated by Agastya, and Kripapureeswarar, with their Devis Amirthavalli and Kripanayaki. Jata Gangai and Sundarar Tirtham are the tanks. Sundarar sang one padigam here, calling the place Vanparthan Panangattur. Brahmotsavam comes in Masi, Annabhishekam in Aippasi and Arudra Darshan in Margazhi.
