What it says
The trenches show brick walls and floors, terracotta ring wells, channels, a dyeing vat, spindle whorls, gaming pieces, ivory and gold, and pottery from northern India. The Tamil Nadu department’s 2019 report dated a charcoal sample to 580 BCE by AMS radiocarbon, placing the town in the 6th century BCE; the dating of its earliest layers is still discussed between the excavators and the ASI.
It shows town life and writing in the Pandya country about the same time as the second urbanisation of the Ganga plain.
