Meaning

Nandlal, come and live in my eyes: your enchanting form, your dark face, your large eyes.

The flute rests on lips sweet as nectar, the vaijayanti garland on your chest. Little bells shine at your waist, and your anklets ring sweetly.

Meera’s Lord, Gopal, gives joy to the saints and loves his devotees.

About this bhajan

A darshan song: Meera describes Krishna from head to foot, eyes, lips, flute, garland, waist-bells, anklets, and asks him to stay in her eyes so she never has to stop seeing him. Temples sing it as the curtain opens for shringar darshan, when the deity has just been dressed. The language here leans more to Braj than to Meera’s Marwari, as many of her padas do in the form they reached northern India.
