Kausalya gazes at her son
Vaidehi touches the feet of all her mothers-in-law. They ask after her and bless her that her married state may stay unbroken. All of them watch Raghupati's face and, since this is an auspicious hour, hold back their tears. They wave the arati in golden plates, make offerings and look at him again and again. Kausalya keeps gazing at her son, and one thought returns to her: how did he kill the lord of Lanka? My two boys are so tender, and the night-wanderers were mighty warriors. Watching him with Lakshmana and Sita, she is lost in joy, her body thrilling.
सब रघुपति मुख-कमल बिलोकहिँ । मङ्गल जानि नयन जल रोकहिँ ॥
कनक थार आरती उतारहिं । बार बार प्रभु गात निहारहिं ॥
saba raghupati mukha-kamala bilokahim̐ | maṅgala jāni nayana jala rokahim̐ ||
kanaka thāra āratī utārahiṃ | bāra bāra prabhu gāta nihārahiṃ ||
नाना भाँति निछावरि करहीं । परमानन्द हरष उर भरहीं ॥
कौसल्या पुनि पुनि रघुबीरहि । चितवति कृपासिन्धु रनधीरहि ॥
nānā bhām̐ti nichāvari karahīṃ | paramānanda haraṣa ura bharahīṃ ||
kausalyā puni puni raghubīrahi | citavati kṛpāsindhu ranadhīrahi ||
हृदयँ बिचारति बारहिँ बारा । कवन भाँति लङ्कापति मारा ॥
अति सुकुमार जुगल मेरे बारे । निसिचर सुभट महाबल भारे ॥
hṛdayam̐ bicārati bārahim̐ bārā | kavana bhām̐ti laṅkāpati mārā ||
ati sukumāra jugala mere bāre | nisicara subhaṭa mahābala bhāre ||
लछिमन अरु सीता सहित, प्रभुहि बिलोकति मातु ।
परमानन्द मगन मन, पुनि पुनि पुलकित गात ॥
lachimana aru sītā sahita, prabhuhi bilokati mātu |
paramānanda magana mana, puni puni pulakita gāta ||
