Garuda's doubt after the serpent noose
That, Bhagwan Shiva tells Girija, is when he went to the bird. Now hear why Garuda, banner of the bird race, went to the crow. When Raghunath played at war, he let himself be bound by Indrajit; Shiva says the thought of that leela still makes him shy. Narada sent Garuda, who cut the bonds and left, but a fierce gloom rose in his heart. The all-pervading Brahman, stainless, lord of speech, beyond maya and delusion, the supreme Ishvara, was said to have taken avatar in the world, yet Garuda had seen no such power. Men are freed from the bonds of becoming by chanting his name, and this same Rama was tied up in a serpent noose by a petty rakshasa!
