The citizens urge each other to worship
Everywhere people sing Raghupati's praise and teach one another: worship Rama, protector of those who bow to him. Lotus-eyed and dark, he guards his servants as eyelids guard the eyes. He is the sun to the lotus forest of the saints, Garuda to the serpent of Time, the hunter of the deer of greed and delusion, a lion to the elephant of Kama, fire to the forest of demons. Why not worship Raghubir with Janaki, who breaks the fear of the world? He is frost to the mosquitoes of desire, unborn, undying, Tulsidas's generous Lord. So the city sings, and the ocean of mercy is kind to all.
