The army lands, Ravana hears of the bridge

Seeing the creatures serve as a bridge, the two brothers smile and walk on. Shri Rama lands with the army and camps beyond the sea,, telling the monkeys to eat fruits and roots. Every tree bears fruit for Rama's sake, ignoring season and time. The monkeys eat the sweet fruit, shake the trees and fling hilltops toward Lanka. Wherever they find a roaming rakshasa they surround him and make him dance, then cut off his nose and ears with their teeth, tell him Rama's glory and let him go. Those maimed rakshasas carry the news to Ravana. Hearing that the ocean has been bound, the ten-headed king cries out in alarm, repeating ten names of the sea one after another, as if he cannot believe it.
