Sampati hears of Jatayu's death
From his mountain cave the vulture Sampati hears the monkeys. Coming out, he says the Lord of the world has sent him food: starving for days, never once full, today he will eat them all. The monkeys take death as certain, and Jambavan is filled with worry. Angada reflects aloud: blessed is Jatayu, who gave his body for Rama's work and went to Hari's abode. Hearing these words of joy and grief, the bird comes near, calms the frightened monkeys and asks their story. Hearing his brother's deed, Sampati praises Raghupati's glory and asks to be carried to the shore to offer water for Jatayu; after that he will help them with words.
आजु सबहि कहँ भच्छन करऊँ । दिन बहु चले अहार बिनु मरऊँ ॥
कबहुँ न मिल भरि उदर अहारा । आजु दीन्ह बिधि एकहिं बारा ॥
āju sabahi kaham̐ bhacchana karaūm̐ | dina bahu cale ahāra binu maraūm̐ ||
kabahum̐ na mila bhari udara ahārā | āju dīnha bidhi ekahiṃ bārā ||
डरपे गीध बचन सुनि काना । अब भा मरन सत्य हम जाना ॥

kapi saba uṭhe gīdha kaham̐ dekhī | jāmavanta mana soca bisekhī ||
कह अङ्गद बिचारि मन माहीं । धन्य जटायू सम कोउ नाहीं ॥
राम-काज-कारन तनु त्यागी । हरि पुर गयउ परम-बड़ भागी ॥

rāma-kāja-kārana tanu tyāgī | hari pura gayau parama-bar̤a bhāgī ||
सुनि खग हरष सोक जुत बानी । आवा निकट कपिन्ह भय मानी ॥
तिन्हहिँ अभय करि पूछेसि जाई । कथा सकल तिन्ह ताहि सुनाई ॥
suni khaga haraṣa soka juta bānī | āvā nikaṭa kapinha bhaya mānī ||
tinhahim̐ abhaya kari pūchesi jāī | kathā sakala tinha tāhi sunāī ||
सुनि सम्पाति बन्धु कै करनी । रघुपति महिमा बहु बिधि बरनी ॥

मोहि लेइ जाहु सिन्धु तट, देउँ तिलाञ्जलि ताहि ।
बचन सहाय करबि मैं, पैहहु खोजहु जाहि ॥

bacana sahāya karabi maiṃ, paihahu khojahu jāhi ||
