Rama on the crystal rock as the rains begin

The forest on the hill blooms, bees hum greedy for honey, and since the Lord came, roots, fruits and leaves abound. Rama and Lakshmana stay on that matchless hill. Devas, siddhas and sages take the forms of bees, birds and deer to serve the Lord, and from the day Rama, Lord of Lakshmi, dwells there, the forest becomes auspicious. The two brothers sit at ease on a gleaming white crystal slab, and Rama tells his younger brother many things about bhakti, vairagya, statecraft and discernment. The rainy season comes; clouds fill the sky, and their thunder sounds lovely. Lakshmana, look, says Rama: the peacocks dance on seeing the clouds, as a householder given to detachment rejoices on seeing a devotee of Vishnu.
