Parvati: fire and Kama near Mahesha

Bhavani smiles and answers: you speak fittingly, wise sages. By your reckoning Shambhu has only now burned Kama, and so was ruled by passion until now. By mine, Shiva is ever a yogi, unborn, blameless, without desire, untouched by pleasure. If I have served Shiva knowing him so, with love in deed, mind and speech, then hear, great sages: the merciful Lord will make my vow come true. Your saying that Hara burned Kama shows great lack of discernment. It is fire's nature that frost never goes near it, and if it does it must perish; such is Manmatha before Mahesha. The sages rejoice at her words, seeing her love and faith, bow their heads to Bhavani and go to Himachal.
