Shiva consents; the rishis tease Parvati
Brahma goes on: let us see this festival with full eyes, O destroyer of Kama's pride. Burning Kama and then granting Rati a boon was most kind; to punish and then show grace is the natural way of great lords. Parvati has done boundless tapas; now accept her. Hearing Brahma's plea and remembering Shri Rama's word, Shiva gladly says, so be it. The devas beat drums, rain flowers and cry victory to the Lord of the devas. Knowing the moment, the seven rishis arrive, and Brahma sends them at once to Himachal's house. They go first to Bhavani and speak sweet words laced with guile: you would not hear us then, holding to Narada's teaching; now your vow has proved false, for Mahesha has burned Kama.
