What happens in this chapter

The wedding date is fixed

The rishis tell Himavan everything. He grieves to hear of Kama's burning, then rejoices to hear of the boon to Rati. Reflecting on Shambhu's greatness, he respectfully calls the great sages, has an auspicious day, nakshatra and hour worked out, and quickly fixes the lagna by Vedic rule. He gives the letter to the seven rishis, clasping their feet in humility. They take it to Brahma, who cannot contain his love as he reads it. Brahma reads the lagna aloud to all, and the gathered devas are delighted. Flowers rain, music sounds in the sky, and auspicious kalashas are set up in all ten directions. The devas begin decking their mounts and vimanas, good omens appear, and apsaras sing.
