Sati hides the truth; Shiva's dilemma

Understanding Raghubir's power, Sati hides the truth out of fear. I took no test, master, she says; I only bowed to him as you did, and I trust your word fully. Shankar sees it all in meditation. He bows to Rama's maya, which moved Sati to speak a falsehood, and reflects that Hari's will and destiny are strong. Sati took the form of Sita, and at this a special grief rises in Shiva. If I now love Sati as my wife, the path of devotion will be broken. The doha: great love cannot be given up, yet to love her as before would be a great sin. Mahesh says nothing, but his anguish grows.
