By Shambhu's grace good sense blossomed in Tulsi's heart and he became the poet of the Manas; he asks the good to hear and correct it. Then the image of the lake begins. Good sense is the land, the heart its deep basin, Veda and Purana the ocean, the saints the clouds that rain the water of Rama's glory. The leelas of the Lord with form are its clearness; indescribable loving devotion is its sweetness and coolness. Falling on the ground of intellect, it ran through the channel of the ears, filled the manas and settled there, cool and clear. The doha: four fine dialogues are the lake's four ghats.
