With deep love Dasharatha makes his plea to Vasishtha, placing his sons and all his wealth before him. The chief of munis asks only for his customary due and gives many blessings. Holding Rama and Sita in his heart, the guru goes home rejoicing. The king then calls all the Brahmana wives and gives them fine clothes and ornaments. He sends for the married women of the city and gives each a gift to her liking. Everyone owed a ceremonial due receives it, as each wishes. Dear guests and those worthy of reverence are honoured fittingly. The devas, having watched Raghubir's wedding, rain flowers, praise the festivity and leave for their own realms to the beat of drums, telling each other of Rama's glory, their hearts overflowing.
