Dasharatha with his daughters-in-law

Having honoured everyone, Dasharatha, his heart brimming with joy, goes to the queens' apartments and looks upon his sons with their brides. He takes them on his lap with delight; who can tell the happiness he feels? He seats the brides on his lap with love and caresses them again and again. The women of the palace rejoice to see it, and joy settles in every heart. The king tells how the wedding took place, and all are thrilled to hear it. Like a bard he praises King Janaka's virtue, courtesy, love and wealth, and the queens are delighted. The king bathes with his sons, calls the Brahmanas, the guru and his kin, and they feast until five ghatis of the night have passed.
