Ayodhya greets the four couples
Magadhas, sutas, bards and skilled dancers sing the fame that lights the three worlds. Cries of victory and the pure sound of the Veda, steeped in blessing, are heard in all ten directions. The king greets the citizens, and they are made happy by the sight of Rama. They scatter jewels and cloth in offering, their eyes wet and bodies thrilling. The women of the city wave lamps, delighting in the four princes, and lifting the curtains of the palanquins they rejoice to see the brides. Giving joy to all, the party reaches the royal gate, where the mothers gladly welcome their sons and brides.
बिपुल बाजने बाजन लागे । नभ-सुर नगर-लोग अनुरागे ॥
बने बराती बरनि न जाहीं । महा मुदित मन सुख न समाहीं ॥
bipula bājane bājana lāge | nabha-sura nagara-loga anurāge ||
bane barātī barani na jāhīṃ | mahā mudita mana sukha na samāhīṃ ||
पुरबासिन्ह तब राउ जोहारे । देखत रामहि भये सुखारे ॥
करहिं निछावर मनि-गन चीरा । वारि बिलोचन पुलक सरीरा ॥
purabāsinha taba rāu johāre | dekhata rāmahi bhaye sukhāre ||
karahiṃ nichāvara mani-gana cīrā | vāri bilocana pulaka sarīrā ||
आरति करहिँ मुदित पुर नारी । हरषहिँ निरखि कुँअर बर चारी ॥
सिबिका सुभग ओहार उघारी । देखि दुलहिनिन्ह होहिं सुखारी ॥

sibikā subhaga ohāra ughārī | dekhi dulahininha hohiṃ sukhārī ||
एहि बिधि सबही देत सुख, आये राजदुआर ।

ehi bidhi sabahī deta sukha, āye rājaduāra |
mudita mātu paruchani karahim̐, badhunha sameta kumāra ||
