Bharata readies the horses and riders

The king calls Bharata: go and make ready horses, elephants and chariots, and set out quickly with Shri Rama's procession. Both brothers thrill at the words. Bharata summons the masters of the stables and gives orders, and they run off gladly. They saddle the horses with care, and steeds of many colours shine, all handsome and spirited, stepping as if the ground were hot iron. Their breeds are beyond counting; they seem to scorn the wind and wish to fly. Dashing young men, princes of Bharata's age, mount them, all handsome and adorned, with bows and arrows in hand and quivers at the waist. They are elegant, brave, skilled and young, and beside each rider walk two footmen expert with the sword.
