Songs of Rama and Sita fill Dasharatha's palace
Here and there women gather in groups, adorned with all sixteen ornaments, bright as lightning, moon-faced and doe-eyed, their beauty enough to humble Rati. They sing auspicious songs so sweetly that the cuckoo is ashamed. Who can describe the king's palace, where a canopy has been raised that would charm the world? Lovely auspicious things shine and many drums sound. In one place bards recite the family's glories, in another Brahmins chant the Vedas. Women sing wedding songs, taking the names of Rama and Sita. The joy is so great and the palace so small that it seems to overflow in every direction. What poet could fully describe the beauty of Dasharatha's home, where Shri Rama, crest jewel of all the Devas, took his avatara?
