Sita will not touch the Lord's feet

Music sounds in the city and the sky; the wicked grow gloomy and the good shine. Devas, kinnaras, men, nagas and munis cry victory and give blessings. Wives of the devas dance and sing, and handfuls of flowers fall again and again. Brahmins chant the Vedas and heralds recite praises. The fame spreads over earth and the underworld: Rama has broken the bow and won Sita. Townsfolk wave lamps in arati and give away wealth without a thought. Sita and Rama together look as if beauty and love had met in one place. The friends tell Sita to clasp the Lord's feet, but she will not touch them, remembering what befell Gautama's wife. The jewel of the Raghus smiles inwardly, knowing her love is beyond this world.
