The heralds proclaim: the kings' might is a moon, and Shiva's bow is the Rahu that swallows it. Even Ravana and Banasura saw it and quietly left. Whoever breaks Purari's stern bow today, Vaidehi will wed him without hesitation, and with her comes the glory of the three worlds. Every king longs for her, and proud warriors burn with anger. Girding themselves, they bow to their deities and go. Glaring, they seize the bow and strain every way, but it does not rise. Sensible kings do not go near it. The foolish grab it, fail and walk off ashamed, as if the bow grew heavier with each warrior's strength.
