The people pray, and Janaka's vow is proclaimed
Seeing Shri Rama's form and Sita's beauty, men and women forget to blink. All are anxious but shy to speak, and silently pray to the Creator: take away Janaka's stubbornness and give him a mind like ours, so that he sets aside his vow and gives Sita to Rama. The world will praise it, while holding to his resolve will only burn his heart in the end. Everyone longs for one thing, that the dark groom is Janaki's match. Then Janaka calls the heralds and tells them to announce his vow. They raise their long arms and call out: hear, all you kings, we proclaim the vow of Videha.
