The name greater than formless Brahman
Brahman has two forms, without qualities and with them, both fathomless and beyond words. In Tulsidas's view the name is greater than both, having brought both under its control by its own strength. He asks the learned not to call this boldness; he speaks his own faith. Knowing the two forms is like knowing fire hidden in wood and fire in flame. Both are hard to reach, and both become easy through the name. The one imperishable Brahman, being, awareness and bliss, lives unchanged in every heart, yet all beings are poor and suffering. Only through the name, explained and practised, does he become manifest, as a jewel's worth appears only when it is assessed.
