Parvati asks for the whole Rama katha

Parvati says: though a woman is not entitled to this teaching, I am your servant in mind, deed and word, and saints do not hide even deep truths when they find a seeker who is earnest and fit. In great longing I ask, Lord of the devas: tell me Raghupati's katha out of kindness. First explain why the formless Brahman takes a body with qualities. Then tell of Rama's avatara and his generous childhood deeds; how he married Janaki; whose fault it was that he gave up the kingdom; his deeds in the forest and how he slew Ravana; his leelas on the throne. Then tell, abode of compassion, of the wonder Rama worked, and how the jewel of the Raghu line went to his own abode with his people.
