Sita answers: no grief like separation

Hearing her beloved's gentle words, Sita's lovely eyes fill with tears. The cool counsel burns her, as the clear autumn moonlit night burns the chakvi bird. She cannot answer, distraught that her pure and loving lord means to leave her. Forcibly holding back her tears and steadying her heart, the daughter of the Earth touches her mother-in-law's feet and says with joined palms: Forgive my great boldness, mother. My lord has given me the counsel he thinks best for me, but I have weighed it in my mind and found no sorrow in the world equal to separation from one's husband. My lord, home of compassion, wise and giver of joy, moon of the Raghu lilies, without you heaven itself would be like hell.
