Bharata begins his humble reply

The guru has counselled me well, Bharata says, and the people and ministers agree. Mother's order too is fitting, and I would carry it out with bowed head. When guru, father, mother and master speak for one's good, one should obey gladly; to weigh their words for right and wrong loses dharma and loads sin on the head. I understand this well, yet my heart finds no peace. Hear my plea and teach me according to my state. Forgive me for answering; saints do not count the faults of the afflicted. My father is in heaven, Sita and Rama in the forest, and you tell me to rule. Is this for my good, or for some great purpose of yours?
