01Parthasarathi in Indraprastha

Delhi stands on the ground of Indraprastha, the Pandava capital, so ISKCON chose to worship Krishna here as Parthasarathi, the charioteer who spoke the Gita to Arjuna. The temple was opened by Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on 5 April 1998. Its architect, Achyut Kanvinde, gave it a tall modern shikhara over a hall where kirtan goes on through the day. The altars hold Radha Parthasarathi in the centre, Gaura Nitai, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and Nityananda, on one side, and Sita Rama Lakshmana with Hanuman on the other.

02The great Gita

On 26 February 2019 Prime Minister Narendra Modi released here a Bhagavad Gita printed in Italy, about 2.8 metres tall and weighing some 800 kg, the largest printed scripture in the world; it is opened on festival days. Janmashtami is the biggest day of the year here, when lakhs come through the gates from the evening until past midnight.
