इत्येष समासतस्ते कथितः, तूर्व्वसोर्वशमवधारय
ityeṣa samāsataste kathitaḥ, tūrvvasorvaśamavadhāraya
2 verses · 16 of 24
The text here is incomplete: only two verses survive, and the second shows a gap where a name has dropped out. Parashara closes his short account of Yadu's house and asks Maitreya to hear the line of Turvasu, Yayati's son by Devayani. Turvasu's son is Vahni; then come Gobhanu, Traishamba and Karandhama, and after a break in the text, Marutta. Marutta has no son of his own, so he adopts Dushmanta of the Puru line as his son. So, says Parashara, because of Yayati's curse on Turvasu, his house loses its own succession and takes shelter in the house of Puru, the youngest son who had accepted his father's old age.
