द्रुह्योस्तु तनयो बभ्रुः
druhyostu tanayo babhruḥ
इति विष्णुमहापुराणे चतुर्थांशे सप्तदशोऽध्यायः ॥
5 verses · 17 of 24
A short adhyaya of five verses, all a genealogy. Parashara gives the line of Druhyu, the son of Yayati and Sharmishtha who refused to take his father's old age. Druhyu's son is Babhru, and Babhru's son is Setu. Setu's son is named Arabdha. From Arabdha comes Gandhara, the king whose name is carried by the land of Gandhara. After him follow Dharma, Ghrita, Durdama and Pracheta. Pracheta's son is Shatadharma, who becomes overlord of the many mleccha peoples of the north. No katha is told here; the names stand on their own, and with them Parashara completes the houses of Yayati's sons before turning to Anu.
