Released Like a Chariot Horse

Prabhuvasu Angirasa offers a second gayatri sukta. Pressed in the two bowls, Soma is let loose onto the filter like a chariot horse, and the steed has crossed the mark. Wakeful and bearing the offering, he flows past toward the cask that drips honey. The ancient Pavamana is asked to light up the luminaries and urge us to resolve and skill. Adorned by those who keep rita, groomed by their hands, he flows through the fleece of sheep. May he pour all goods, of heaven, earth and the middle air, to the giver. Seeking horses, cattle and heroes, he mounts the back of heaven.
