What happens in this chapter

Held by Ten Sisters, He Lit the Sun

Priyamedha Angirasa praises Pavamana Soma in gayatri, verse after verse opening with eṣa, 'this one'. This steed, set going by men, all-knowing lord of mind, runs through the sheep's fleece. Pressed for the Devas, he has flowed in the filter, entering every abode. The deathless Deva shines in his seat, slayer of obstructions, most eager for the Devas. The roaring bull, held by ten sisters, runs to the wooden vessels. Pavamana, seeing all, knowing every abode, has made the sun shine. The mighty, undeceivable Soma flows, purified, the Devas' helper and slayer of the one who speaks evil.
