Kashyapa Asita or Devala sings of Pavamana Soma in gayatri, each verse beginning with eṣa or etam, 'this one'. This hero goes with swift chariots to Indra's meeting place, labouring for the great assembly where the immortals sit. He is led along the shining path. Like a bull of the herd he shakes and sharpens his horns, bearing manly strength. With bright gleaming shoots he becomes lord of the rivers, and passes over rough places down to the grassy level. Men groom him in the wooden vessels, and ten fingers and seven thoughts groom the well-armed, most joyous one.
