Yoke your praise to Agni
Gritsamada urges the singer to praise Agni's yokings as one who seeks a prize yokes chariots. Agni, most glorious and bountiful, is a good guide to the giver and wears down the miser. Evening and morning he is praised in homes, and his vow is never broken. He shines like the sun with bright flame, anointed with unaging rays. Songs have strengthened Agni, following Atri, to his own sovereignty, and he holds all splendour. The last verse, in anushtubh, prays that under the protection of Agni, Indra, Soma and all the devas the people stay unharmed and overcome attackers.
यः सु॑नी॒थो द॑दा॒शुषे॑ऽजु॒र्यो ज॒रय॑न्न॒रिम् ।
चारु॑प्रतीक॒ आहु॑तः

atrimanu svarājyamagnimukthāni vāvṛdhuḥ |
viśvā adhi śriyo dadhe
