What happens in this chapter
Soma and Pushan, navel of immortality
Gritsamada addresses Soma and Pushan together in trishtubh. They are begetters of wealth, of heaven and of earth; born as guardians of the whole world, the devas made them the navel of immortality. When they are born the devas rejoice, and they hide the hateful darkness. Through them Indra put cooked milk within the raw cows. They drive the seven-wheeled chariot that measures the region, yoked by the mind, with five reins. One made his seat high in heaven, the other on earth and in the mid-air. One begot all beings, the other goes watching over all. The final half-verse calls on the goddess Aditi.
इ॒मौ दे॒वौ जाय॑मानौ जुषन्ते॒मौ तमां॑सि गूहता॒मजु॑ष्टा ।
