Agastya asks the Maruts to forgive

Agastya Maitravaruni comes to the Maruts in trishtubh with homage and a sukta shaped by heart and mind, asking them to set aside their anger and unyoke their horses. From verse three he turns to Indra with the Maruts. He confesses he fled from mighty Indra, trembling with fear, and that the offerings made ready for the Maruts were put aside; so be gracious. He asks Indra, with the Maruts, to grant fame and to protect the men, his anger laid down.
