What happens in this chapter

Indra, drink like a thirsty buffalo

Let the bay horses with eyes like the sun bring Indra, the bull, to drink Soma. Medhatithi Kanva calls him in gayatri at the morning pressing and as the yajna goes on. Here are roasted grains dripping with ghee; let the bays carry Indra in the most comfortable chariot. Come to our pressing and drink as a thirsty gaura buffalo drinks. This praise is the first, meant to touch your heart; drink the pressed Soma. Indra, slayer of Vritra, goes to every pressing for joy. The close asks Shatakratu to fill our wish with cows and horses.
