Kumbhakarna's rage and Rama's piercing arrows

Kumbhakarna sees that his whole army was destroyed in an instant. Furious, he roars like a lion, tears up mountains and hurls them where the great monkey fighters stand. Shri Rama sees the peaks coming and turns them to dust with his arrows. Then, angered, he draws the bow and looses many terrible arrows. They enter Kumbhakarna's body and pass out again, like lightning flashing through a cloud. Blood runs down his black body like streams of red ochre down a mountain of lampblack. Seeing him shaken, the bears and monkeys rush in, but he laughs as they come near. With a great roar he seizes crores of them, dashes them on the ground like a king elephant, and swears by Ravana.
