Rising into the sky, Meghanada rains down masses of burning coals, while streams of water burst from the earth. Pishachas and pishachis of many kinds dance and cry kill, cut. He rains filth, blood, bones and stones. Then he rains dust and makes such darkness that no one can see his own outstretched hand. The monkeys are bewildered. Rama smiles at this play, knowing the monkeys are afraid. With one arrow he cuts away all the magic, as the sun removes the mass of darkness. His gracious glance makes the monkeys strong again. Then, taking leave of Rama, Lakshmana sets out in anger, bow and arrows in hand, with Angada and the other monkeys.
