Meghanada's arrows strike down the monkeys

Meghanada challenges: where are the two brothers of Kosala, archers famed in every world? Where are Nala, Nila, Dvivida and Sugriva, where Angada and Hanuman, the limit of strength? Where is Vibhishana, traitor to his brother? Today I will kill them all, him above all. So saying he fits hard arrows, draws them to his ear in great fury and lets fly a stream of them, like winged serpents in flight. Bears and monkeys scatter, every wish for battle forgotten. There is no bear or monkey on the field whom he has not left with only a breath of life. He strikes each with ten arrows, and the monkey heroes fall to the ground, while steady, mighty Meghanada roars a lion's roar.
