Shiva obeys; the seven rishis sent

Shiva replies that though this hardly suits him, the Lord's word cannot be set aside. To carry out your command on my head is my highest dharma, he says. A parent's, guru's or master's word is to be obeyed without debate. The Lord is pleased with this answer, built of devotion, discernment and dharma, and says: Hara, your vow is kept; now keep in your heart what I have said. With that he vanishes, and Shankara keeps that form in his heart. At once the seven rishis come to Shiva, and he tells them: go to Parvati and test her love, then have Himavan send for her home and clear away the doubt.
