Mother and daughter, and Uma's dream

Himavan tells Maina: if you love your daughter, go and teach her to do tapas so that she may gain Mahesha; no other remedy will end this trouble. Narada's words carry deep meaning and good reason; Vrishaketu is beautiful and a treasury of virtues, and Shankara is without stain in every way, so drop your fear. Glad at heart, Maina rises and goes at once to Girija. Seeing Uma, her eyes fill and she seats her lovingly in her lap. Again and again she holds her to her breast, her throat choked so that she cannot speak. Then Bhavani, mother of the world, who knows all, speaks softly to comfort her mother: listen, she says, I have seen a dream; a fair and handsome noble Brahmin gave me this teaching.
