Shiva's long samadhi; Sati's grief
Understanding what she has done, Sati is filled with anxiety beyond words. Shiva, deep and merciful, has not spoken of her fault openly. Seeing his manner, Bhavani's heart cries out that the Lord has left her. Knowing her sin she cannot speak, and her heart burns like a potter's kiln. To comfort her, Vrishaketu tells lovely tales and histories all the way to Kailash. There, recalling his vow, he sits under the banyan in the lotus posture, takes up his own natural state, and an unbroken samadhi begins. The doha: Sati lives on Kailash in deep sorrow; no one knows the secret, and each day passes like an age.
सङ्कर-रुख अवलोकि भवानी । प्रभु मोहि तजेउ हृदयँ अकुलानी ॥
निज अघ समुझि न कछु कहि जाई । तपइ अवाँ इव उर अधिकाई ॥
saṅkara-rukha avaloki bhavānī | prabhu mohi tajeu hṛdayam̐ akulānī ||
nija agha samujhi na kachu kahi jāī | tapai avām̐ iva ura adhikāī ||

baranata pantha bibidha itihāsā | bisvanātha pahum̐ce kailāsā ||
तहँ पुनि समुझि समुझि पन आपन । बैठे बट तर करि कमलासन ॥
सङ्कर सहज-सरूप सम्हारा । लागि समाधि अखंड अपारा ॥
taham̐ puni samujhi samujhi pana āpana | baiṭhe baṭa tara kari kamalāsana ||
saṅkara sahaja-sarūpa samhārā | lāgi samādhi akhaṃḍa apārā ||
सत्ती बसहि कैलास तब, अधिक सोच मन माहिँ ।
मरम न कोऊ जान कछु, जुग सम दिवस सिराहिं ॥
sattī basahi kailāsa taba, adhika soca mana māhim̐ |
marama na koū jāna kachu, juga sama divasa sirāhiṃ ||
