Sita taken; Rama searches like a man

Ravana had asked for death only at a man's hand, and the Lord meant to keep Brahma's word true. Shiva thinks: if I do not go, I will regret it, yet no plan seems right. Just then ten-headed Ravana comes with base Maricha, who turns into a deceitful deer, and the fool carries off Vaidehi by trickery, not knowing the Lord's power. Returning with his brother after killing the deer, the Lord sees the empty ashram and his eyes fill with tears. Like an ordinary man stricken by separation, he searches the forest. He who knows neither union nor parting is seen bearing grief. The doha: only the wise grasp Raghupati's wondrous deeds; the deluded think otherwise.
