The wedding threads untied; Vishvamitra departs
On an auspicious day the wedding threads are untied amid great merriment. The devas pray for birth in Ayodhya. Vishvamitra wishes daily to leave but stays, held by Rama's loving pleas. When at last he asks leave, Dasharatha stands before him with his sons and says: lord, all this wealth is yours; I am your servant with my sons and wives. Keep your kindness on the boys, and keep giving me your darshan. Then he falls at the sage's feet with his sons and queens, unable to speak. The sage blesses them and goes. Rama and his brothers escort him and turn back at his word, and the moon of Gadhi's line goes off rejoicing, praising them inwardly.
