Days of hospitality, the request to leave

Dasharatha spends whole nights praising Janaka's love, courtesy and deeds. Each morning he asks leave to go, and each day Janaka lovingly keeps him back. The honour grows daily, the hospitality takes a thousand new forms, the city rejoices afresh, and no one wants Dasharatha to leave. Many days pass this way, the wedding party bound as if by a rope of affection. At last Vishvamitra and Shatananda go to Janaka and gently tell him that, though he cannot let go of his love, he must now give Dasharatha leave. Janaka agrees and calls his ministers, who bow with blessings. He tells them the lord of Avadh wishes to depart and asks them to inform the inner palace. Hearing it, the ministers, Brahmanas and courtiers are overcome with love.
