The procession sets out with music

Beside Vasishtha the king shines like Indra with Brihaspati, the guru of the Devas. Following family custom and Vedic rite, and seeing everyone fully ready, he remembers Shri Rama, takes his guru's leave and sets off to the sound of conches. The Devas rejoice to see the procession and shower flowers that bring good fortune. A great clamour rises as horses and elephants roar; drums sound both in the procession and in the sky. Women of Devas and men sing blessings, and shehnais play in sweet ragas. The ringing of bells large and small is beyond words. Jesters play many pranks and sing well. Princes make their horses dance to drum and mridanga, and skilled dancers watch amazed that the steeds never break the rhythm.
