Tulsidas calls his boldness a great fault; hearing his sins, even hell would wrinkle its nose. Yet Rama never gave his fear a thought and praised his devotion. A fault confessed is gone if the heart is good, for Rama knows the devotee's heart. The Lord keeps no one's slip in mind but remembers their goodness a hundred times. For the very sin he killed Vali for, Sugriva later did wrong, and Vibhishana too, yet Rama never looked at it, honoured them on meeting Bharata and praised them in court. The dohas: the Lord sat under the tree and the monkeys on the branches, yet he made them his equals. No master is as gracious as Rama.
